But, tellingly, GAME’s terms and conditions for this offer make it clear that this is only open to the public - and not to “trade” resellers looking for a quick profit. “GAME reserves the right to refuse any offer to anyone believed to be representing a trade buyer/customer,” the chain states. A report from Bloomberg (paywall) published in August said Nagoshi was leaving to join Chinese company NetEase. In a farewell post on the website of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, developer of the Yakuza games, Nagoshi thanked fans for their support over the years. “As of today, a new Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is born where the series will live on,” Nagoshi said. “Though I don’t know for sure what they will create, I believe the new generation will further enhance the foundation we built over the years and deliver great games to the world....

French video game company Microids said in a blog post that Sokal passed away on 28th May after battling a long-term illness. Belgian comic book artist Sokal is perhaps best known in the world of video games for creating the Syberia adventure games. But his first game for Microids was 1999 adventure Amerzone, which was based on Sokal’s popular 1986 Inspector Canardo comic strip L’Amerzone . “A true visionary and extremely talented artist, Benoît left an indelible mark on Microids’ history,” Microids said....

That’s according to Striking Distance Studios CEO Glen Schofield, who teased yesterday that “now might be a good time to start” keeping an eye on updates from the studio. In a YouGov survey issued to players over the weekend, Activision Blizzard - which is in the process of being acquired by Microsoft - asked players how “interested” they were in a range of “emerging/future trends in gaming”. In a new blog post, Activision confirmed it would require a text-enabled mobile phone number to play the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PC, and also Warzone 2.0. This will not apply on console, however, or to anyone on PC who verified their account to play the existing Warzone previously. The key issue here is Warzone 2.0, which as a free-to-play game is an easy target for cheaters....
